Executive Directive 1 (ED1) Projects

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass’s Executive Directive 1 (ED1) helps accelerate the delivery of much-needed affordable housing by streamlining the approval process for qualifying projects. 

The directive allows 100% affordable housing and shelter developments to move through a ministerial review process with expedited clearances and approvals, enabling architects, developers, and the City to work more efficiently together. 

Several of AERO’s recent and upcoming projects align with ED1, reflecting the firm’s commitment to supporting well-intentioned development that expands housing opportunities across Los Angeles. 

By taking advantage of policies that remove barriers such as parking and certain zoning requirements, these projects demonstrate how thoughtful design and strategic development can increase housing supply while creating meaningful investment in local communities.
